What makes a good game for a 2 year old?

At two, children are working out that their actions make things happen. The best toddler games keep that loop short and rewarding:

Playing on an iPad or phone? Get the free Little Taps app for iPhone and iPad or Android. It has the same worlds, works offline and is built around tapping.

Toddler games questions

Are these toddler games free?

Yes. Every game on Little Keys is free, with no ads, no sign-up and nothing to buy. They run in your browser on computers, tablets and phones.

What games are good for 2 year olds?

Games where every press or tap does something, with nothing to get wrong. At 2, children are learning cause and effect, so bright reactions, animals, balloons and music suit them well. Little Keys' Toddler Mode is made for ages 2–4.

Can a 1 year old play?

Baby Mode (0–2) is the softest and slowest setting, with gentle colours and sounds, so even very young children can press or tap and see something happen. The ages describe the modes, not advice about screen use.

Do the games work on an iPad or tablet?

Yes. On touch screens children simply tap. There is also the free Little Taps app for iPhone, iPad and Android, which works offline.

Is there anything for older children?

Learning Mode (4–6) shows letters and numbers with words and phonics. For ages 7–9 there is Word Racer, a spelling race game where children steer a car into the letters of a spoken word.
